Bill Shumate, MD was born in Houston and grew up in Plano, Texas. He attended Plano Senior High School before going to Abilene Christian University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and graduated summa cum laude. Dr. Shumate attended UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. After completing his residency in Waco with McLennan County Medical Education and Research Foundation, he served in the U.S. Air Force at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Dr. Shumate has practiced medicine in Garland for 21 years. He is dedicated to patient education and empowerment to live a healthy lifestyle. He enjoys seeing patients of all ages and is dedicated to preventive care, chronic disease management, holistic therapies, and patient education.
Dr Shumate met his wife while attending Abilene Christian University and they have eleven (11) children together. When not working, Dr Shumate enjoys snow skiing and hiking in Colorado, spending time outdoors, traveling, and spending time with his family.
